PORTFOLIO

ajfortney.428@gmail.com

Hi, I’m AJ, a fashion major at the Academy of Art University showcasing my growing portfolio. Currently based between North Dakota and Minnesota, I’m a fashion journalist, stylist, and activist who craves a circular textile economy with fashion that reflects the signs of the times and makes you think introspectively.

I strive to be unapologetic in both my writing and my styling.

“This is my career and each help the other, and it’s very very important to look great if you want to make a point.”

-Vivienne Westwood

I've been a resident of the fashion world for six years and counting. I've created, critiqued, consulted, styled, forecasted, and directed.

Tastee,
Personal, Editorial,
& Creative Styling. but above all, sustainable.

When I’m not writing or creating, I’m a freelance stylist. I put together looks for editorial photoshoots and content creation that tell a story.

I have been working with Tastee Vintage as a stylist, creative director, and champion of the femme department for over a year now. My mission as a stylist is to provide people with sustainable fashion as a part of the journey towards a circular textile economy.

All items are thrifted, vintage, or consigned. The purpose is to show how shopping second-hand and vintage is the most freeing way to curate your own unique personal style without breaking the bank.

As Macklemore once said, “50 dollars for a t-shirt?... I call that getting tricked by a business, that shirt's hella dough, and having the same one as six other people in this club is a hella don't (Thrift Shop, 2012).” Trust us, second-hand makes you look hella dope.
